Hitman: A Smart and Hilarious Thrill Ride
Hitman , the film directed by Richard Linklater and co-written by Glen Powell, is by far the most quirky and fun film that was offered by Sundance this year. It’s combining many genres of the film, such as romance, comedy, and crime, making it enjoyable right from the beginning to the end of the movie. This film is a major highlight for actor Glen Powell who not only acted in the film but also wrote a witty and incisive screenplay. His chemistry with Adria Arjona is electric which helps in making Hitman one of the best films in the year.
From the first scene, the film envelops any viewer into the storyline with the interesting concept in the story. Gary Johnson, who is portrayed by Powell is a slightly repressed philosophy lectures, who moonlights as a hitman. What begins as a role to provide technical assistance to the police gets transformed when Gary becomes a fictitious murderer. Powell’s quick-switching from the meek professor to the suave assassin gives the plot some excitement and spice.
You explained yourself by stating that the film turned out to be the most fun that you’ve had at this year’s Sundance and you are not the only one. Plenty of critics believe that the movie is so filled with smiles and the levity makes one feel sunshine in disgust with the more acute angles of the movie. This film is also self-referential in that it knows what the audience wants - action spills balanced with comical moments. Turning in some strong performances as well is Powell and with more skin action between him and Arjona, the film becomes hot and steamy and lovely.
Nevertheless, it is unfortunate that Hitman will go straight to steaming video immediately after Sundance, it is pretty clear that this film is likely to appeal to an audience. The movie will become a cult regardless of the regards because of humor, engaged plot, and basic branches. It cantered around Linklater’s direction and Powell’s adorable versatility makes Hitman interesting for dark comedic sickos and clever thriller lovers.
